City of Atlanta City Council Met Nov. 3.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

OPEN: The regular meeting of the Atlanta City Council was held at the Atlanta City Hall and remotely. The meeting was called to order by Mayor McVey at 7:30PM.

Pledge of Allegiance

ROLL CALL:

Motion by Evans second by Cheek to approve the minutes as presented.

Motion by Evans second by Dreyer to pay all bills or as far as money allows.

Chief Eimer reported on a series of burglaries in the City a couple of weeks before. One arrest has been made and more to follow. The case was proceeding as expected. Eimer asked everyone to lock their cars and leave no valuables in their cars.

The council took up the tax levy. The Mayor recommended the levy be the same as last year $135,743.00.

Motion by Cheek and second by Evans to approve the levy

The council was given information on Body Camera’s for the Police Dept. The Chief spoke to the council on the topic. Operation was discussed pertaining to the cameras. A camera was needed for their secondary vehicle. Some additional bids will be secured and brought to the council.

The Mayor reported that the Golf Course was purchasing a used top dresser for $5,000.00. More equipment will be purchased at a later date.

Motion by Cheek and second by Evans to declare the 1999 suburban surplus property.

The council took up the bids for Empire Street. Five bids were received. Bob Kholhase from Farnsworth Group was present to explain the bids and answer questions from the council.

Young questioned the cost of the lime. He felt that the Alderman should have been at the bid opening. Several items were questioned by the council.

Motion by Cheek and second by Dreyer to accept the bid in the amount of $263,488.31 from Otto Baum for the construction of Empire Street.

The City attorney reported that the deed for the Rexroat property should be the City’s in a couple weeks.

Colaw went over the TIF projects. Country Aire was complete and paid. Collins and Mattingly projects were moving along, and information was provided.

An additional outline about the tourism district was shared. He felt that action was needed. He also felt that the City needed to assist in the record.

Eimer wondered if anything further to come pertaining to the street project. The answer from the engineer was probably not. Also, he hoped that the community would support the local businesses during the new COVID requirements.

Evans reported that the sidewalk work will be done very soon.

The Mayor gave a list of City activities to the council.

Keith Gardner will be back to work soon.
