City of Atlanta City Council met Dec. 1.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

OPEN: The regular meeting of the Atlanta City Council was held at the Atlanta City Hall and remotely. The meeting was called to order by Mayor McVey at 7:30PM.

Pledge of Allegiance

    ROLL CALL:  

               Colaw-P                                     Dreyer-P

               Eimer-P                                      Cheek-P

               Young-P                                     Evans-P

Motion by Evans second by Cheek to approve the minutes as presented.

    ROLL CALL:

Motion by Evans second by Cheek to pay all bills or as far as money allows.

Alan Grigg brought up the issue of the power pole at the well site near Lazy Road. It had been fixed.

Melanie Blankenship asked the City to plan to work along her drive to divert and drain away the water.

Also reported that a Street light at the corner of Chestnut and Fifth is out again.

Chief Eimer reported on further research on body cameras for the Police. Wolf-com was willing to send equipment to test.

An in-car camera was also being considered.

The Alderman asked questions pertaining to Wolf-com equipment. Chief Eimer answered questions according to the research he had done. Reviews he looked at were particularly good.

He will get further information and costs.

The council took up the financing for the Empire St. project. The proposed loan amount is $350,000.00

Motion by Colaw and second by Eimer to approve the ordinance approving the loan in the amount of $350,000 for the Empire St. project.

The Mayor presented an Ordinance regulating Groundwater as a potable water supply. The area affected was outlined for the council. The ordinance will have to be passed in the near future.

Alderman Colaw asked if the deed came in for the Second St. property. The tree in the Church St. triangle was lit today. Installation of the lights was donated by Anderson Electric.

Alderwoman Cheek complimented Alderman Colaw for the work on the Christmas lights.

Alderwoman Evans reported the sidewalk near the school turned out well.

The Mayor stated the City was going to move forward with getting the house on Second St. torn down. He will have more information ready for next meeting.

The Mayor announced a pre-bid meeting for the water-main work near the school. This meeting will be held on December 3rd at 2pm. Bids to be opened the 10th at 2PM at City Hall.
