Gov. J.B. Pritzker is now dealing with an insurrectionist county after Sangamon County has stated it will not fully subject restaurants and bars to COVID-19 restriction.
Sangamon County announced that as of Jan. 3 it will no longer be subjecting restaurants and bars to a complete indoor shutdown.
“Sangamon County, IL Health Department goes against state restrictions, announces indoor dining and bar service can resume at 25% capacity beginning Jan 3,” Ben Bradley, a reporter with WGN-TV, said on Twitter.
Restaurants across the state have been resisting as a group, keeping dining rooms open and finding that Pritzker’s executive orders are unenforceable.
Sangamon County joins local municipalities who already have not been enforcing lockdown restrictions.
Springfield Mayor Jim Langfelder will not be enforcing new lockdown orders set to begin Sunday.
Lincoln Mayor Tracy Welch also said he would not be enforcing the entire lockdown of dining rooms in restaurants across the state as ordered by Gov. J.B. Pritzker beginning Nov. 4.
