Issued the following announcement on Aug. 16

On Tuesday, August 24th, at 7 p.m., the Lake Springfield Watershed Resource Planning Committee (LSWRPC) will host Dr. Michael Castellano, Professor of Agronomy at Iowa State University, as its keynote speaker.  His research, teaching and outreach focus on improving the sustainable productivity of cropping systems.  The topic for his presentation is “A systems approach to minimize trade-offs among productivity, profitability and environmental quality”. This meeting will be held at the Sangamon County Farm Bureau, 2631 Beechler Court in Springfield, IL.  CDC’s Covid-19 guidelines for in-person events will be followed.

A reception for Dick Lyons will be held following Dr. Castellano’s presentation.  Dick has faithfully served for 32 years as Chairman of the Lake Springfield Watershed Resource Planning Committee since its inception in 1989.  Please join us in honoring Dick Lyons for his dedication and service.

This meeting is sponsored by the Sangamon County SWCD and Springfield’s City Water, Light and Power (CWLP), Illinois EPA through Section 319 of the Clean Water Act and the Natural Resources Conservation Service’s Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP).  This is a multi-partner collaborative effort that continues to protect the water quality of Lake Springfield, with guidance from in the 2017 Lake Springfield Watershed-based Management Plan and Illinois’ Nutrient Loss Reduction Strategy.
