Village of Chatham Village Board met Sept. 14.

A. Public Hearing

B. Call to Order

Trustee Detmers called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm.

Present: Trustee Mau; Trustee Ferguson; Trustee Chiaro; Trustee Detmers; Trustee Gerger; Trustee Scherschel.

Absent: Village President Kimsey

Others Present: Village Manager McCarthy; Village Attorney Moredock; Police Chief Foli; Village Clerk Holden

Trustee Mau made a motion to appoint Trustee Detmers as Chair of the meeting in the absence of Village President Kimsey. This motion was seconded by Trustee Chiaro. By a voice vote of members present, the motion was approved.

4. Public Announcements: If you have a Public announcement you must email it to (publiccomments@chathamil.net) at least 30 minutes before the beginning of the scheduled meeting.

A presentation by the Sons of the American Revolution to recognize the life-saving efforts of two Chatham Village Police officers. On July 21, 2021, Sergeant Poani and Officer Smith responded to a 911 call and were able to revive an individual who was unconscious. By performing CPR and using an AED, the individual was revived and transported to the hospital in Springfield. The individual is doing well. Toby Chamberlain and Sid Welles of the Sons of the American Revolution presented Sergeant Poani and Officer Smith with their Life Saving Award.

A motion was made by Trustee Mau to place the consent agenda on the table for discussion. This motion was seconded by Trustee Chiaro. The motion passed by a 6-0 vote. The vote was as follows: Trustee Mau - yes; Trustee Ferguson - yes; Trustee Chiaro - yes; Trustee Detmers - yes; Trustee Gerger - yes; Trustee Scherschel - yes.

D. Old Business

There was no old business discussed.

E. New Business

1. Ordinance Amending The Village Code To Allow for Seizure of Vehicles for Fleeing and Evading Arrest.

A motion was made by Trustee Chiaro to table this topic. The motion was seconded by Trustee Ferguson. By a voice vote of the members present, the motion was approved.

2. An Ordinance Approving Financing for the Purchase of Real Estate in the Village of Chatham

Trustee Mau made a motion to approve Ordinance 21-27. This motion was seconded by Trustee Chiaro. The motion passed by a 6-0 vote. The vote was as follows: Trustee Mau - yes; Trustee Chiaro - yes; Trustee Ferguson - yes; Trustee Detmers - yes; Trustee Gerger - yes; Trustee Scherschel - yes.
