City of Petersburg City Council met Jan. 5.
Here are the minutes provided by the council:
I. CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Rick Snyder called the City Council to order at 7:01 p.m.
II. PRELIMINARY MATTERS
A. Members present were Mayor Rick Snyder, Aldermen Kevin Molohon, Andrew Gain, , Rick Sonnemaker, and Mike Allison. Also present were City Clerk Ken Ortman, Treasurer David Frick, and City Attorney Sam Bobor. Alderman Nathan Grosboll and Bruce Gorman were absent.
B. Mayor Snyder led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America.
C. A motion was made by Alderman Gain and seconded by Alderman Allison to approve the agenda as presented. VOTES: Sonnemaker, yes; Molohon, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.
III. CITY CLERK
A. The City Clerk presented the Warrant List and Accounts Payable for Janurary 5, 2021 and the Accounts Payable from December 15, 2020. A motion was made by Alderman Gain and seconded by Alderman Sonnemaker to approve payment of the bills as listed on the Warrant List and Accounts Payable for January 5, 2021 and Accounts Payable for December 15, 2020. VOTES: Molohon, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.
B. A motion was made by Alderman Sonnemaker and seconded by Alderman Gain to approve the minutes of December 15, 2020 Regular Meeting. VOTES: Molohon, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.
IV. HEARING OF CITIZENS
A. Alderman Molohon spoke for Jennifer Servis on the Jeepin with Lincoln Rally. It was cancelled in 2020 and wanted to hold it on June 12, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. around the three sides of the square. Discussion was held. By consensus of the Council, the Alderman will approve the use of the Square for the Jeepin with Lincoln event.
V. DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS
A. Police
1. Police Chief John Jones gave the Monthly Report. Chief Jones discussed the monthly activities for December 2020.
B. Fire
1. Alderman Allison spoke for Fire Chief Pat Rebbe. Truck two is currently at Rush Truck Center looking at the Air Suppression and Breaks. Looks like it will be a pretty hefty bill. D. Police Chief Mike Nichols reported that the Fire Siren at the Fire House was not working. The mayor will have someone look into it.
C. Zoning
1. Discussion on 4 Façade Improvement Grant Applications for the Broadgadge 101 N 7th Street Petersburg, IL. Discussion was held and a motion made by Alderman Allison Seconded by Alderman Gain to table the decision till the January 19, 2021 meeting. VOTES: Gain, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Molohon, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.
2. Discussion on the Bed and Breakfast Ordinance in regards to the discontinued use as a Bed and Breakfast.

1. The City Auditor Mike Feriozzi held his Annual Audit Exit Conference with the Council.

X. NEW BUSINESS
1. Discussion on the water meter Ordinance 24-48 Ownership and Customer Responsibility and 24-49 Meters Replacement. The mayor would like to change 24-49 Any meter installed prior to 4-12-1977, which requires replacement, shall be replaced by meters and attachments thereto provided by the city, at cost for which the user shall pay the city. All meters so replaced shall remain the property of the city. The city shall make any repair on any such meter for any damage resulting from ordinary wear and tear, but the customer shall pay for repairs required for such meter resulting from willful or negligent acts of the customer, or his or her agent, or the weather. (1993 Code, § 24-49) (Ord. 81-11-2, passed 11-3-1981)
Adding after the word attachments (yoke, if replacement is needed).The change should be brought to the Council at the January 19, 2021 meeting.
2. Discussion the Leaf Burning Ordinance.

A motion was made by Alderman Allison and seconded by Alderman Gain to adjourn the meeting. VOTES: Gain, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Molohon, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. Meeting Adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
