City of Petersburg City Council met June 7

City of Petersburg City Council met June 7.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

I. CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Rick Snyder called the City Council to order at 7:04 p.m.

II. PRELIMINARY MATTERS

A. Members present were Mayor Rick Snyder, Aldermen Kevin Molohon, Andrew Gain, Bruce Gorman, Rick Sonnemaker, and Mike Allison. Also present were City Clerk Ken Ortman, Treasurer David Frick, and City Attorney Jason Brokaw. Alderman Nathan Grosboll was absent.

B. Mayor Snyder led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America.

C. A motion was made by Alderman Gorman and seconded by Alderman Gain to approve the agenda as presented. VOTES: Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

III. CITY CLERK

A. The City Clerk presented the Warrant List and Accounts Payable. A motion was made by Alderman Gain and seconded by Alderman Gorman to approve payment of the bills as listed on the Warrant List and Accounts Payable. VOTES: Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

B. A motion was made by Alderman Gorman and seconded by Alderman Gain to approve the minutes of May 17, 2022 Regular Meeting. VOTES: Molohon, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

IV. HEARING OF CITIZENS

None

V. DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS

A. Police

Chief Mike Nichols gave the Department report for the month of May 2022.

B. Fire

Chief Pat Rebbe gave the Department report for the month of May 2022.

C. Zoning

None

VI. OFFICERS' REPORTS

A. Mayor's Report

Discussion of the Road Program. Mayor discussed a list of roads to oil and chip scheduled for later this year.

Mayor mentioned that I DOT will hold an open meeting for the resurfacing of route 97 from 4-6 June 21, 2022.

tDiscussion on a street closure. The 1st and 3rd would like to close the intersection of Douglas and 7th on July 7, 2022 for a nationally known band, Chasing Denver, that will perform. A motion made by Alderman Gain seconded by Alderman Allison to approve the road closure for July 7, 2022 for 1st and 3rd

B. Treasurer's Report

Set Budget Meeting for June 14, 2022 and 7:00 p.m.

Alderman Gorman asked if the Mayor got the info about the Community Garden using a location in Hurie Park.

Discussion on a new Used Fire Truck.

A motion made by Alderman Gorman seconded by Alderman Allison to go into Executive Session to discuss a personnel issue. VOTES: Gain, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. Executive Session at 7:42 p.m.

A motion made by Alderman Gain seconded by Alderman Sonnemaker to resume Regular Session at 7:55 p.m. VOTES: Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Gain, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

XII. ADJOURNMENT

A motion was made by Alderman Gain and seconded by Alderman Sonnemaker to adjourn the meeting. VOTES: Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Gain, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the Meeting Adjourned at 7:57 p.m.

MOTION CARRIED.
