Gubernatorial candidate Sen. Darren Bailey (R-Louisville) recently thanked supporters for attending an open house at his Sangamon County office.
"Thanks to our friends, volunteers, GOP members and the county clerks who came out to our Sangamon County Office open house!" Bailey said in a statement. "If you’re ever in Springfield please stop by to meet our staff, and take a sign!"
Sangamon County is where the State Capitol Building is located. All but one of the countywide offices there is held by Republicans.
Bailey has recently been critical of career politicians.
“Darren Bailey fights for the working people, not the political elites," his website reads. "As a legislator, he refuses state pension benefits and believes that perks for elected officials only contribute to wasteful spending problems."
According to his campaign website, "Darren supports and advocates for term limits to prevent career politicians from advancing their own agendas, rather than what is best for Illinois. As Governor, he will promote transparency and ensure safeguards against powerful government overreach."
His campaign also noted that he values hard work, individual liberty, and social responsibility and knows "that these precious freedoms are threatened everyday by big government and powerful career politicians."
“Today, there is a political class that is ignoring our values and harming American families," the Bailey campaign website reads.
Because of these issues, "Illinois needs a leader that is one of us,” the campaign stated.
Bailey's running mate is Stephanie Trussell. He announced Trussell as his running mate at a campaign stop on Dec. 13, noting that she is "a hard-working conservative, a fighter, a mother, a grandmother and Illinois' next lieutenant governor.” Trussell had a seven-year career as one of Chicago’s most well-known conservative radio hosts. Her program, The Stephanie Trussell Show, was a platform for promoting transparency on different issues by hosting local and national politicians and other well-known guests, the Sangamon Sun reported.
