Village of Pawnee Board of Trustees met Aug. 8.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Call to Order:

President Clarke called the meeting to order to 7:00pm.

Roll Call:

Village Clerk, Devona Martin called roll

Trustees in attendance: Brian Whitlow, Phillip Thompson, Steve Gudgel, Patrick Murphy, David Skinner, Troy Squires Trustees

Absent:

Also in attendance: Attorney Don Cravens, Treasurer Kelly Haney, Brent Wise, Candy Kramer with the Pawnee Post, Chief Barclay Harris, Andy Lee, Bob Terry

Visitor's Recognition/Comments:

Bob Terry appeared before the Board. He represents the residents at 1103 Carroll. He is asking for the status of Grooms Street. President Clarke advised we dropped the paperwork off at IDOT today and they will start in September. He is asking for more rock. Trustee Whitlow will take care of having some more rock hauled in. He also asked about 807 Lincoln Street. He would like to put in a driveway. Trustee Murphy will have Jeff Schober take a look at it. If a driveway cannot go in, we will add some rock,

Personnel & Finance Committee Report: Committee Chair, Trustee Skinner

Trustee Skinner presented the bills payable for the week ending August 8, 2022 in the amount of $175,149.36

Gas and Water Committee Report: Committee Chair, Trustee Squires

• Trustee Squires advised that on July 27th, there were 5 shut offs. On August 9th there were 2 shut offs due to broken agreements.

Streets, Alley and Sidewalk Committee Report: Committee Chair, Trustee Whitlow

Trustee Whitlow advised that they have had a few street repairs for gas leak repairs. He also advised one of the dump truck beds needs repaired. The cost will be $2,500 President Clarke advised we've turned everything to IDOT for Grooms Street. They are supposed to start in September.

Police Committee Report: Committee Chair, Trustee Skinner

Trustee Skinner advised they interviewed Josh Ibberson and they have extended an offer. He will start the August 22th. Chief Barclay Harris presented his monthly police report.

Sewers and Parks: Committee Chair, Trustee Thompson

Trustee Thompson advised they are trying to keep up with water. The pumps are fine just dealing with the extra water.

Zoning Committee Report: Committee Chair, Trustee Murphy

• Trustee Murphy advised there is a zoning meeting on August 22, 2022 and there will likely be an action item to bring the 104 Store property into the village. Trustee Murphy advised they have been working on a few problem properties.

Bargaining Committee: Committee Chair, President Clarke

Energy: Committee Chair, President Clarke

Infrastructure: Committee Chair, President Clarke

New Business:

President Clarke advised that an electronic recycling company has contacted us. They charge $1,000 up front and then they charge by the tonnage based on the type of equipment picked up. In the past, we have charged customers to try to recoup some monies. This is a service we have provided our residents. We have selected a date of August 27 from 9am-12pm. This is electronics only and for Pawnee residents only.

Motion made by Trustee Thompson to hire CJD E-Cycling for electronic recycling on August 27 from 9am-12pm

President Clarke advised that the property at 110 3rd Street is coming up for a tax sale in the amount of $805. We have liens totaling $6,500. If we do purchase it, we will put it up for closed bids.

President Clarke advised the air permit was released. President Clarke has a phone meeting with Emberclear tomorrow and an in person meeting August 17th.
