The Illinois College men's golf team commenced the 2025 spring season by securing a seventh-place finish at the Cougar Spring Shootout, organized by ICC at the Weibring Golf Course in Normal, Illinois.
The Blueboys fielded two teams in this season opener. The Blue team recorded a score of 339 (+55) while the White team concluded their performance with a score of 349 (+65).
Leading the charge for Illinois College was Jarrett James, who carded a score of 77 (+5), marking a strong start to his concluding semester with the Blueboys. James managed two birdies on the front nine, achieving a fifth-place finish in the overall standings. Joining him on the Blue team were Tobin Nell, Caden Tinsley, and Dylan Clark.
On the White team lineup, Myles Kampwerth shot a 79 (+7), ending up 13th overall. Contributions from AJ Odle, Cole Bartels, and Isaac Anderson allowed the team to tie for 12th place.
Meanwhile, Parkland emerged victorious in the tournament with a combined team score of 310, while the host team ICC secured second place with a total of 313.
Looking forward, the Blueboys are scheduled to resume competition on April 4–5 at the Illinois Wesleyan Invite, again in Normal, Illinois. The event takes place at Ironwood Golf Course and Weibring Golf Course, beginning with a shotgun start on Friday at noon.
