City of Petersburg City Council met July 5

City of Petersburg City Council met July 5.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

I. CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Rick Snyder called the City Council to order at 7:02 p.m.

II. PRELIMINARY MATTERS

A. Members present were Mayor Rick Snyder, Aldermen Kevin Molohon, Nathan Grosboll, Andrew Gain, Rick Sonnemaker, and Mike Allison. Also present were City Clerk Ken Ortman, Treasurer David Frick, and City Attorney Sam Bobar. Alderman Bruce Gorman was absent.

B. Mayor Snyder led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America.

C. A motion was made by Alderman Gain and seconded by Alderman Grosboll to approve the agenda as presented. VOTES: Sonnemaker, yes; Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

III. CITY CLERK

A. The City Clerk presented the Warrant List and Accounts Payable. A motion was made by Alderman Gain and seconded by Alderman Grosboll to approve payment of the bills as listed on the Warrant List and Accounts Payable. VOTES: Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

B. A motion was made by Alderman Molohon and seconded by Alderman Allison to approve the minutes of June 21, 2022 Regular Meeting. VOTES: Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

IV. HEARING OF CITIZENS

None

V. DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS

A. Police

1. Mayor Snyder read the Police Report for June of 2022.

B. Fire

1. Fire Chief Pat Rebbe gave the Fire Department Report for June 2022. They had a total of 17 calls. The Fire Truck they were looking at was sold.

C. Zoning

1. Recommendation of Zoning Board of Appeals. Discussion on the shed at 419 N 8th St. On recommendation of the Zoning Boar move the shed to the west to set even with the front porch of the house. A motion made by Alderman Allison seconded by Alderman Grosboll to table a decision until July 19, 2022 to allow for more information on this particular situation. VOTES: Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Molohon, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

VI. OFFICERS' REPORTS

A. Mayor's Report

1. Reminder about the street closure for the band that is coming in on Thursday July 7, 2022.

2. IDOT meeting update. The Mayor gave information on the IDOT meeting concerning the repaving of Route 97.

Alderman Gorman arrived at 7:40 p.m.

B. Treasurer

1. Discussion on Grant Money Appropriations.

2. Discussion on Covid Relief Funds Appropriations.

VIII. SPECIAL COMMITTEES' REPORT

IX. Old Business

1. Discussion and vote on financing of new well and sewer project.

Council talked about getting a Grant, EPA Lone, or a UŞDA Loan. A motion made by Alderman Gain seconded by Alderman Gorman to proceed with the process of getting a new well drilled. VOTES: Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

X. NEW BUSINESS

1. Fire Works in town. Discussion on allowing Fire works in town. The Mayor said a lot of people were out with Fire Works on the 4th of July. By consensus of the Council we should not allow Fire Works per State Statute.

2. Alderman Molohon asked a question about the authority of the Menard County Animal Control.

XI. ADJOURNMENT

A motion was made by Alderman Gain and seconded by Alderman Allison to adjourn the meeting. VOTES: Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED, Meeting Adjourned at X:XX p.m.
