Village of Illiopolis Board of Trustees met Aug. 1.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Mayor Rogers called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance.

A roll call was taken, all members were present except J Swick.

Agenda

The agenda was adopted as presented.

Minutes

R Reed made a motion to approve the July 18, 2022 minutes as amended, seconded by B Honea motion carried 5-0-0.

Visitors

Open Forum

Tony Caccomo was present to observe.

Treasurer’s Report

C Mitchell presented information to invest with a CD.

Old Business

The Mayor and Treasurer discussed the different interest rates for the CD they are going to get.

R Reed made a motion allowing the Mayor and the Treasurer to open a One year CD with the Bank of Springfield with D Koonce seconding, A roll call vote was taken, motion carried 5-0-0.

J DeVore made a motion to approve the PTO raffle license application with D Koonce seconding. Motion carried 5-0-0.

The Mayor mentioned that the PTO was also requesting a donation. J DeVore made a motion to donate $50 to the PTO with B Honea seconding.

Dilapidated Property

Attorney Segatto discussed the Old Methodist Church and the old Video Store and what was going on with that process.

The Mayor mentioned that the main concern is the chimney at the church and the bricks that are falling.

Comments

J DeVore received a letter from the County about the regional leadership council meetings and the other board members said they also received a letter. The purpose of the letter is to get more of the board members to attend the meetings.

The Mayor mentioned that the bulk plant had been broken into again. He talked to the insurance company and since we want to replace the wooden frame with a metal one, they considered that an upgrade and would not cover it. After the deductible the insurance company will pay the village $400. The cost of the upgrade i.e. the metal frame and door will be approximately $1300. J DeVore made a motion to do an upgrade with a metal door and metal frame, with B Honea seconding.

The Mayor received a letter from Waste Management stating that they will start charging an additional surcharge on the garbage bill due to the increased cost of fuel.

The Mayor stated that he would like to get the water tower inspected by use of a robot. The water tower will not be offline when this is done. The cost of the inspection is $2350. D Koonce made a motion to approve the inspection with R Reed seconding. Roll call vote was taken, motion carried 5-0-0.

D Koonce made a motion to go into executive session for discussion of leasing village real estate and personnel at 6:47pm with J DeVore seconding. Roll call vote was taken, motion carried 5-0-0.

R Reed made a motion to come out of executive session at 7:25pm with D Koonce seconding. Roll call vote was taken, motion carried 5-0-0.

J DeVore made a motion to adjourn at 7:25pm with R Reed seconding.
