Laura Calderon, vice president of the Board of Ball Chatham Schools, approved over $180,000 to fix school maintenance in the district before the winter comes.

“After some bids and considerations, and a second inspection that showed a few of the doors just needed repairs not complete replacements, the board voted their approval for the $182,419 project, which includes a 10% contingency fee,” according to Calderon.

The district certified a contract alongside Graham and Hyde Architects to perform a detailed audit for all areas of the school buildings in the district.

“They would assess paving, athletic facilities, masonry, windows, doors, skylights, plumbing, bleachers, electrical, and more. They will build a comprehensive document with dates and expected timelines of depreciation, along with costs,” stated in the video. The board granted The Illinois State Board of Education and can be easily available.

“The grant will be a 1:1 matching money for the door replacement and repair project in the high school, with $50,000 put up by the school for it and a matching $50,000 granted for the project,” stated in video. While these fixes come in effect some of the construction will be weather dependent on how fast they can come in and how snowy we might be this winter and that things get covered up.

“That they may have to wait on some portions of this until the ground can be seen so they know our desires to get started as soon as possible,” said in the video.

A contract with Mr. Frosty, a snow removal company, were hired in the past and  always been satisfied with their work. They were also the most responsive company to the district’s advertisement and one of only two who put in a bid for them this year.
