Illinois state Sen. Steve McClure recently honored those who have served in the U.S. military during an event where he spoke to veterans and thanked them for their service.

“Happy Veterans Day! I stopped by Hy-Vee’s free breakfast for veterans this morning to visit with and thank the veterans in attendance. Thanks to all who have served,” McClure said in a post on Facebook where he also posted photos from the event that took place in Springfield.

In June, McClure defeated Donald Debolt in the 54th Senate District Republican primary. He took to Facebook, saying, “I’m humbled by the support, and honored to be the Republican nominee for the 54th District. Thanks to everyone who supported our campaign.”
