SIUE is Illinois’ top public institution in graduating student-athletes and tied for fifth nationally, according to a report released by the NCAA.
Six SIUE programs earned a perfect score of 100% in the latest Graduation Success Rate (GSR) figures. The men's golf, men's track and field and cross country, men’s basketball, women's soccer, women's tennis and volleyball teams all earned a perfect score. The GSR for the group of SIUE student-athletes in the 2012-2015 cohort is 95% overall.
“Graduation of our student athletes is always a high priority at SIUE,” said SIUE Interim Director of Athletics Derrick Brown. “Earning the top GSR in Illinois and to be fifth nationally in all public institutions is an incredible accomplishment.”
SIUE is fifth among all public institutions and is tied for 49th among all institutions, public or private. The only public institutions ahead of SIUE nationally are Michigan, North Carolina-Asheville, New Hampshire and Vermont.
“We are all extremely proud of our student-athletes who continue to excel in the classroom,” said Brown. “I also want to congratulate our coaches and Academic Support team who work so hard with our student-athletes to help them achieve their academic goals.”
SIUE also is the top state institution among the conferences in which the Cougars compete (Ohio Valley, Missouri Valley and Mid-American).
