In a July 12 Facebook post, Rep. Randy Frese (R-Quincy) shared disaster declaration news that affects his constituents.
"Morgan County is included in the Disaster Proclamation just issued by the Governor," Frese posted on Facebook.
On July 11, Gov. J.B. Pritzker issued a disaster proclamation for counties affected by the severe storms that occurred from June 29 through July 4 when heavy rainfall, flash flooding, tornadoes, and hail hit parts of the state. This declaration allows the state to declare specific disaster areas, implement the state emergency operations plan, and to request federal assistance if it is deemed necessary. The proclamation is valid for 30 days.
On his official House site, Frese shared a link to a WGN news report on the proclamation
“Many Illinois communities suffered extensive damages due to last week’s torrential rain and severe weather," Pritzker said. "To support those impacted across the state, I have signed a disaster proclamation to mobilize every available resource, accelerating the recovery process and providing relief for our residents. I want to thank (the Illinois Emergency Management Agency and Office of Homeland Security) for their ongoing coordination.”
Morgan County is also included in a disaster declaration issued by USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack on July 10, for tornados and high winds from March 31 through April 5. Morgan County is one of the 14 contiguous counties named in the declaration. Henry, Mercer, Rock Island and Sangamon were the primary counties in this declaration. Individuals in affected counties have eight months from the date of the incident to apply for emergency loans.
