City of Athens City Council met May 8.
Here is the minutes as provided by the committee:
The Athens City Council met for a regularly scheduled City Council Meeting Monday 8th, 2023.
Mayor Reichert called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. All present participated in the pledge of allegiance. The roll call taken indicated that Alderman Chernowsky, Alderman Lantz, Alderman Thompson, Alderman Hoffman, and Alderman Tobias were present.
Audience members in attendance included Gary Richardson, Linda Wasilewski, Tim Rathbone, Kyle Antonacci, Dale Floyd, Jackie Lindsey and Katie Lindsey.
The following reports were given.
Officer Hopps gave the police report
Treasurer Derrick Fritz gave the treasures report.

A motion was made by Alderman Lantz and seconded by Alderman Hoffman to approve the Public Works, Police, Treasury Library, Vehicles, and Office Managers’ reports. Motion was roll called all present in favor voted aye. Motion passed.
A motion was made by Alderman Chernowsky and seconded by Alderman Lantz to approve the April 2023 meeting minutes. Motion was roll called all present in favor voted aye. Motion passed.
A motion was made by Alderman Hoffman and seconded by Alderman Lantz to approve payment of bills. Motion was roll called all present in favor voted aye. Motion passed.
Motion made by Alderman Hoffman and seconded by Alderman Chernowsky to approve Annual Appropriations Ordinance 04-2023. Motion was roll called all present in favor voted aye. Motion passed.
Motion made by Alderman Lantz and seconded by Alderman Hoffman to approve District Annual Appropriations ordinance 2023-05. Motion was roll called all present in favor voted aye. Motion passed.
Concession stand funding tabled until further notice.
Motion made by Alderman Thompson second by Alderman Lantz to approve request from Jackie Lindsey for The Corner Pub to host two outside events yearly with road closures. Motion was roll called all present in favor voted aye, Motion passed.
Old Business
Tim Rathbone gave a report on the building on Main Street. Outside a few more windows to be added, painting and skim coating. Three bedrooms are getting painted and the 2nd bedroom getting wiring. Then starting a small restaurant. Alderman request timeline in writing with projected dates.
Motion made by Alderman Tobias to adjourn to Executive session at 7:34 pm
Return to Council meeting at 7:55.
Dalton Floyd from Tree Company addressed the council regarding fence requests. Plans to build a shop closer to winter. Discussion on 20-minute parking sign.
Jackie Lindsey questioned the council on business district, questions on sales tax study being done and plans for Hargrave.
