Ball-Chatham Community Unified School District 5 Facilities and Grounds Committee met Jan. 10

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Committee members included Patrick Phipps. Board member, Andrea Rediger, Superintendent, Dr. Becca Lamon and Mike Dobbs, Director, Facilities and Grounds

1475 E. Plummer Blvd.

The project was awarded to Michael von Behren Buildings and demolition began on October 2, 2023.

The walls being extended to the deck above are about 90% complete. Floor preparation work continues in preparation for the new flooring. New ductwork installation is in progress along with the new Variable Air Volume (VAV) units. These units will allow individual temperature control in each space. The new fire sprinkler system is being installed. The hot water heat piping is progressing and the boiler should be installed by the end of January. Electrical rough-in is ongoing and the main fire sprinkler piping is complete. The sprinkler heads will be installed once the suspended ceiling is installed. The framing for the new windows is complete and the windows will be installed upon delivery. The excavation for the new drive and sidewalks is complete and the concrete will be poured when weather permits.

2023-2024 Project Update

A spreadsheet reflecting the proposed upcoming construction projects was handed out to those in attendance. Mr. Phipps inquired about the replacement schedule for the baseball/softball dugouts at Glenwood High School. Dr. Lamon responded that they were on the project list to be completed during the summer of 2024. The deterioration of the sports track at GHS took precedence over the dugouts which absorbed the funding.
