City of Petersburg City Council met Jan. 2.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

I. CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Rick Snyder called the City Council to order at 7:00 p.m.

II. PRELIMINARY MATTERS

A. Members present were Mayor Rick Snyder, Aldermen Tia Baugher, Bruce Gorman, Rick Sonnemaker, and Mike Allison. Also present were City Clerk Ken Ortman, Treasurer David Frick, and City Attorney Jason Brokaw. Alderman Heidi Hiser and Andrew Gain were absent.

B. Mayor Snyder led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America.

C. A motion was made by Alderman Gormanand seconded by Alderman Sonnemaker to approve the agenda as presented.

VOTES: Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Baugher, yes; Allison, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

III. CITY CLERK

A. The City Clerk presented the Warrant List and Accounts Payable. A motion was made by Alderman Gorman and seconded by Alderman Baugher to approve payment of the bills as listed on the Warrant List and Accounts Payable.

VOTES: Gorman, yes;; Baugher, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

B. A motion was made by Alderman Gorman and seconded by Alderman Allison to approve the minutes of December 19, 2024 Regular Meeting.

VOTES: Baugher, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

IV. HEARING OF CITIZENS

None

V. DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS

A. Police

1. Chief Mike Nichols gave the Police Dept. Report. New CAD Report is in effect this month. Total of 138 calls. Officer Kaitschuk starts Academy January 8, 2024 and has 16 weeks of training.

B. Fire

1. Chief Pat Rebbe gave the Fire Dept. Report. Total of 15 calls for the month. No word on the Engin from FDNY. Pat talked to the bank and they said that interest rates shouldn't be raising any time soon so when they need the loan for the truck we just need to come down.

C. Zoning

1. Ordinance 2024-01 An Ordinance Granting A Special Use To Permit A Short-Term Rental On Property Commonly Known As 122 West Sheridan.

2. Ordinance 2024-02 An Ordinance Granting A Special Use To Permit A Short-Term Rental On Property Commonly Known As 303 South 9th

3. Ordinance 2024-03 An Ordinance Granting A Special Use To Permit A Short-Term Rental On Property Commonly Known As 408 South 8th.

4. Ordinance 2024-04 An Ordinance Granting A Special Use To Permit A Short-Term Rental On Property Commonly Known As 422 South 6th.

5. A motion made by Alderman Gorman seconded by Alderman Sonnemaker to approve by Omnibus vote Ordinances 2024-01, 2024-02, 2024-03 and 2024-04.

VOTES: Baugher, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.
