City of Petersburg City Council met Jan. 16.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

I. CALL TO ORDER 

Mayor Rick Snyder called the City Council to order at 7:00 p.m. 

II. PRELIMINARY MATTERS 

A. Members present were Mayor Rick Snyder, Aldermen Heidi Hiser, Tia Baugher, Bruce Gorman, Rick Sonnemaker, and Mike Allison. Also present were City Clerk Ken Ortman, Treasurer David Frick, and City Attorney Jason Brokaw. Alderman Andrew Gain was absent. 

B. Mayor Snyder led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America. 

C. A motion was made by Alderman Gorman and seconded by Alderman Sonnemaker to approve the agenda as presented. VOTES: Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Hiser, yes; Baugher, yes; Allison, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. 

III. CITY CLERK 

A. The City Clerk presented the Warrant List and Accounts Payable. A motion was made by Alderman Gorman and seconded by Alderman Allison to approve payment of the bills as listed on the Warrant List and Accounts Payable. VOTES: Gorman, yes; Hiser, yes; Baugher, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. 

B. A motion was made by Alderman Gorman and seconded by Alderman Sonnemaker to approve the minutes of January 2, 2024 Regular Meeting. VOTES: Hiser, yes; Baugher, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. 

C. A motion was made by Alderman Sonnemaker and seconded by Alderman Baugher to approve the minutes of December 21, 2023 Tax Levy and Road District Tax Levy Hearing. VOTES: Baugher, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes, Hiser, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. 

IV. HEARING OF CITIZENS 

None 

V. DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS

A. Water  

1. Collector's Report - Georgia Ed gave the Collector's Report for the month of December 2023. A motion made by Alderman Gorman seconded by Alderman Hiser to accept the Water Collector's Report. VOTES: Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Hiser, yes; Baugher, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. 

2. Superintendent's Report - Korrie Davis gave the Water  Department's Report for the month of December 2023. 

B. Street

1. Superintendent's Report - Brian Whitehurst gave the Street Department's Report for the month of December 2023. 

C. Zoning 

None 

VI. OFFICERS' REPORTS

A. Mayor's Report 

1. Street Dept. Garage Door  - The first Garage Door springs gave way and the door came crashing down. Springfield Overhead Doors gave a quote of $8100.00 for a new Garage Door installed. A motion made by Alderman Gorman seconded by Alderman Hiser to approve the Bid of $8100.00 for a new garage Door. VOTES: Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Hiser, yes; Baugher, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. 

2. Madison and Monroe Bus Parking 

Discussion held on the cancelling of the Bus Meeting. A motion made by Alderman Sonnemaker seconded by Alderman Gorman to set a date of January 22, 2024 for moving the Bus Parking to Monroe Street. Discussion was held and the motion and the seconded amended to January 29, 2024. VOTES: Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Hiser, yes; Baugher, yes; Allison, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. 

3. 11th and Monroe Vehicle Parking Discussion held on where the teachers are parking on the north side of Monroe and on the East side of 11th St. between Monroe St. and Jackson St. A motion made by Alderman Sonnemaker seconded by Alderman Gorman to set no parking on the North side of Monroe St. from 11th St. West to the alley and no parking on the East side of 11th St. from Monroe to Jackson St. when school is in session. VOTES: Gorman, yes; Hiser, yes; Baugher, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes. yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. 

4. Library Board Appointment - Ellen Standish has resigned from the Library Board. The Mayor has asked Deb Peters to take her place. A motion made by Alderman Gorman seconded by Alderman Allison to appoint Deb Peters to the Library Board. VOTES: Hiser, yes; Baugher, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. 

B. Treasurer 

1. Treasurer's Report - David Frick presented the Treasurer's Report for December 2023. A motion made by Alderman Gorman seconded by Alderman Allison to approve the Treasurer's Report as presented. VOTES: Baugher, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes, Hiser, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

1. Alderman Allison has noticed that people are dumping large piles of cat food out for the critters and stray cats.

A motion was made by Alderman Allison and seconded by Alderman Baugher to adjourn the meeting. VOTES: Hiser, yes; Baugher, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. Meeting Adjourned at 8:09 p.m.
