The dysfunction continues with the Governor and Mayor of Chicago’s handling of the migrant crisis. We cannot afford to throw more taxpayer dollars at this issue, these funds need to be saved to care for our most vulnerable citizens here in Illinois.

The Illinois TRUST Act, enacted in 2017, made Illinois a 'sanctuary state' for undocumented immigrants. There are approximately 628,000 undocumented immigrants in Illinois, costing Illinois taxpayers an estimated $2.9 billion annually.

In light of the significant financial burden placed on taxpayers due to the migrant crisis, calls have been made to repeal the TRUST Act and put an end to Illinois' sanctuary state status. A petition has been circulating in support of legislation to repeal the Act, urging individuals to make their voices heard on the matter.

The impact of the migrant crisis on taxpayers in Illinois is substantial, with concerns growing over the allocation of funds to address the issue. The need to prioritize resources for the state's most vulnerable citizens has been emphasized in the midst of the ongoing challenges posed by the influx of undocumented immigrants.

As the debate surrounding the Illinois migrant crisis and its implications for taxpayers continues, the push for policy changes to address the situation remains at the forefront of discussions. The call to repeal the TRUST Act stands as a focal point in efforts to alleviate the financial strain on Illinois taxpayers and redirect resources to support local communities.
