Ball-Chatham Community Unified School District 5 Facilities and Grounds Committee met May 8

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Attendees included Board Member Ryan Murphy, Committee Member Patrick Phipps. Superintendent, Dr. Becca Lamon and Mike Dobbs, Director, Facilities and Grounds

1475 E. Plummer Blvd.

The project was awarded to Michael von Behren Buildings and demolition began on October 2, 2023.

The ceiling grid and lighting is complete in all offices and hallways. District staff attended a training session on the emergency lighting back up system on May 2, 2024. All carpeting and vinyl tile has been installed with the exception of the board room and the large storage room. The casework has been installed in the copy room and is currently being installed in the board room. The grassy area adjacent to the new sidewalk has been graded and is waiting to be seeded and straw applied. Two concrete areas on the north side will have to be removed and re poured to bring them up to the existing threshold heights. The lift station upgrade is scheduled to begin May 27, 2024. We are now concentrating on finishing the board room flooring and the storage room in the north west corner. The district and Graham and Hyde Architects have scheduled a punch list walk through during the week of May 13, 2024.

GMS Press box

The press box replacement at GMS was awarded to Midwest Construction. The building and steel structure will be demolished after classes let out. The new support steel will be constructed over the summer in preparation of the new press box. The delivery date on the new unit has not been established but it will likely not be in place before the start of the 2025-2026 school year. We anticipate delivery in the late fall or early winter months.

Auditorium Lighting Upgrade

All control wiring has been pulled and terminated and landed on the proper terminals. Work lights on the upper cat walk have been installed and are operational. The new aisle lighting is in progress. The fixtures for the house lighting has been received and are waiting for an articulating lift before they can be installed. There is a delay in receiving some of the can lights but should not affect project timelines. The project is approximately 70% complete and progressing as expected.
