The Governor is set to sign Democrats’ $53.1 billion budget this morning, marking the largest spending plan in Illinois history. This plan was passed during the night without Republican support. The Governor will describe this budget as “balanced,” though it relies on taxes and other financial strategies.

Included in the budget are $1 billion in tax increases, pay raises for politicians, and an additional billion dollars allocated for non-citizens. Critics argue that this spending plan does not align with the priorities of Illinois residents.
