State Representative Mike Coffey is advocating for veterans in Illinois through several legislative measures aimed at improving their quality of life. Rep. Coffey, a Republican from Springfield, has emphasized the importance of supporting those who have served in the military.

“Our community owes a profound debt of gratitude to our veterans for their courage and sacrifices in defending the freedoms we cherish in the United States,” stated Rep. Coffey. “It is my top priority to support our veterans through legislation that not only improves their quality of life but also acknowledges their significant contributions to the 95th District, Illinois, and the United States of America.”

Rep. Coffey has introduced several bills targeting various aspects of veteran welfare:

- House Bill 2288 aims to expand veteran-owned small businesses.

- House Bill 612 seeks to extend property tax relief for veterans with disabilities, including those who served during World War II.

- House Bill 3463 proposes an increase in the assessed value of veteran properties eligible for exemptions.

- Senate Bill 2751 would exempt veterans from building permit fees for improvements related to accommodating disabilities.

For more information on available programs and resources for veterans, constituents are encouraged to visit Rep. Coffey’s website or contact his office directly.

Representative Mike Coffey serves Illinois’ 95th House District, which includes parts of Sangamon County—covering portions of Springfield and Villages of Chatham and Rochester—as well as parts of Macon and Christian Counties.
