Illinois College women’s tennis team sweeps weekend matches

The Illinois College women's tennis team achieved a clean sweep of its three matches over the weekend at the Bellatti Tennis Complex in Jacksonville, Illinois.

IC began the weekend with victories over Anderson (5-4) and Rose-Hulman (5-2) on Saturday, followed by a win against Westminster (4-3) on Sunday to complete the sweep.

In Saturday's opener against Anderson, IC secured the doubles point with wins from Michelle Maag and Lily Ingram at No. 2 and Hannah Lueke and Chloe Plough at No. 3. The victory by Maag and Ingram made them the winningest doubles duo in school history. Singles victories from Sophie Muir (No. 3), Lily Ingram (No. 4), and Madison Eastin (No. 5) clinched the match for IC.

Against Rose-Hulman, IC again won the doubles point with victories by Maag and Ingram at No. 2 and Lueke and Plough at No. 3. Singles wins from Alyssa Wise (No. 1), Muir (No. 2), Lily Ingram (No. 4), and Sophi Barrow (No. 6) secured the overall victory.

On Sunday, IC narrowly defeated Westminster to complete their weekend sweep, earning the doubles point with wins at No. 2 (Maag and Ingram) and No. 3 (Lueke and Plough). Singles victories by Muir (No. 3), Lily Ingram (No. 4), and Eastin (No. 5) ensured the win.

The Lady Blues will conclude their five-match homestand on Tuesday when they face Illinois Wesleyan at the Bellatti Tennis Complex for a dual starting at 5:00 p.m.
