The Illinois College Women's golf team triumphed at the Fighting Scot Fall Invite this weekend, held at Gibson Woods Golf Course in Monmouth, Illinois. The Lady Blues clinched the two-day tournament title with a seven-stroke victory over Marian University.
In the first round, the Lady Blues were led by Katie Mae Milhiser, who shot 80 (+9). Hannah Harpster and Kate Burr contributed rounds of 83 (+12), while Emily Guest closed out the fourth score with an 84 (+13), giving Illinois College a two-stroke lead after day one.
In the second round, Emily Guest started strong for the Lady Blues with a round of 76 (+5) after tallying four birdies. Kate Burr finished with another solid round of 77 (+6), also recording four birdies. Katie Mae Milhiser and Shelby Seiler rounded out the scoring for Illinois College.
Individually, three players from the Lady Blues tied for third place at +18 for the two rounds: Kate Burr, Katie Mae Milhiser, and Emily Guest. Hannah Harpster also secured a top-10 finish at +26 for the two rounds. Shelby Seiler finished in 12th place with a two-day score of +28.
Notably, Illinois College's score of 317 in round two was the fourth-lowest team score in school history.
Next weekend (September 20-21), the Lady Blues will travel to Wisconsin for the Midwest Region Classic hosted by Benedictine University, competing in a two-day 36-hole tournament.
