The Illinois College women's soccer team hosted Faith Baptist Bible College for a non-conference match on Tuesday, celebrating Senior Day. The Lady Blues emerged victorious with a 6-0 win over the Eagles. Senior goalkeeper Cassidy Tacker achieved her first shutout of the season, contributing to IC's overall record improvement to 6-7-2.
Before the match began, four seniors were honored by the IC women's soccer coaching staff: goalkeeper Cassidy Tacker, defender Shannon Engmann, midfielder Emma South, and forward Stephanie Flores.
In the opening eight minutes, IC dominated offensively with seven shots led by forward Haley Sommer's four attempts. In the ninth minute, Olivia Ralston capitalized on an intercepted pass from an Eagles defender to score her sixth goal of the season. Erin O'Connell added another goal in the 21st minute after receiving a cross from Sommer.
Four minutes later, Jourdan Stevens scored following a corner kick from Ralston, marking her second goal of the season. By halftime, IC maintained a 3-0 lead despite back-and-forth play between both teams.
The second half saw further scoring action as Lauren Sinclair assisted Ralston for another goal in the 49th minute. O'Connell secured her second goal of the match in the 65th minute with a long-range shot. Stevens concluded IC's scoring spree shortly thereafter with another long-distance shot that slipped through the Eagles goalkeeper's hands.
Throughout the match, IC outshot their opponents 34-0 with 14 shots on target. Ralston led with ten shots while O'Connell and Sommer each contributed five shots.
Looking ahead, the Lady Blues are set to face Lake Forest College in an MWC matchup on Saturday, October 21 at Lake Forest, Illinois.
