Illinois College women's swim team competes on day two of MWC Championships

The Illinois College women's swimming team participated in the second day of the Midwest Conference Championships at the Russell K. Osgood Pool in Grinnell, Iowa. The team saw two relay teams finish among the top seven.

Currently, the Lady Blues are positioned eighth in the team standings with a total of 123 points.

The team's standout performance was in the 200-yard medley relay, where Jenna Kenning, Julia Edwards, Jena Sellers, and Lauren Sinclair secured sixth place with a time of 1:58.32. Additionally, the 800-yard freestyle relay team comprising Edwards, Sinclair, Abigail Glaser, and Cassie Reeve finished seventh with a time of 8:51.08.

In individual events, Jena Sellers achieved a top-10 finish in the 100-yard breaststroke by completing it in 1:11.06 to place tenth. Jenna Kenning came eleventh in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.69.

The Lady Blues also had three swimmers consecutively placed in the 200-yard freestyle event; Lauren Sinclair (2:07.66), Cassie Reeve (2:08.07), and Abigail Glaser (2:09.83) finished fourteenth, fifteenth, and sixteenth respectively.

Emma Dunsworth took fourteenth place in the 400-yard IM with a time of 5:18.78 while Emily Wickerham followed closely behind in fifteenth place at 5:21.35.

The championships are set to conclude tomorrow.
