Illinois College women’s track team secures top finishes at True Blue Open

The Illinois College women's track and field team achieved several top-five finishes at the True Blue Open held on Saturday at the Ware Family Track in Jacksonville, Illinois.

Mattie Brown led the team with a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash, completing the race in 26.32 seconds. Brown also secured third place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.48 seconds.

The 4 x 100 meter relay team, consisting of Brown, Brooke Oakley, Haley Garrett, and Deja Anderson, finished in second place with a time of 48.22 seconds.

Aleese Trimingham earned third place for Illinois College by completing the 100-meter hurdles in 15.84 seconds.

Apiphany Patterson contributed to the team's success with a fourth-place finish in the 400 meters, clocking a time of 1:01.87.

In field events, Deja Anderson was the top performer for Illinois College, finishing fourth in the long jump with a leap of 5.17 meters.

Sydney Kuper and Keyleigh Thomas both recorded fifth-place finishes in their respective field events. Kuper achieved this position in the hammer throw with a distance of 43.96 meters, while Thomas reached it in the javelin throw with a distance of 30.61 meters.

The Lady Blues will compete again next Saturday at the Greenville Select meet starting at 10:30 a.m.
