Illinois College men's soccer draws with Monmouth in Midwest Conference match

The Illinois College men's soccer team hosted Monmouth College in a Midwest Conference match on Wednesday evening, resulting in a 2-2 draw. The Blueboys now hold an overall record of 7-4-3 and are 2-1-1 in the conference.

Early in the game, Illinois College had a chance to score when Tyler Lunning's shot hit the crossbar. Monmouth took the lead in the 10th minute with a goal by Kristofer Ruiz-Camarena. The Blueboys equalized at 1-1 in the 22nd minute with a goal from Lunning, assisted by Tyler Schiltz. Despite six more shots from Illinois College, the first half ended tied.

In the second half, Schiltz provided an entry ball near the net that Albert Nimako headed into the goal, giving Illinois College a 2-1 lead in the 63rd minute. The match remained competitive and physical throughout. With just 15 seconds left, Owen Murray scored for Monmouth, tying the game at 2-2.

Illinois College outshot Monmouth 17-7 during the match, with nine shots on target. Lunning led his team with six shots, four of which were on goal.

The Blueboys will continue their conference play against Lawrence University on Saturday, October 14 at 8:00 PM.
