The Illinois College men's golf team began their 2024 season by competing in the Illinois Wesleyan Invite, held over two days at different courses. On Friday and Saturday, the Blueboys fielded two teams, starting with rounds at Weibring Golf Course and concluding at Ironwood Golf Course.

During the first day at Weibring Golf Course, Jarrett James led the team with a six-over-par 77. Starting on hole 8, he maintained a one-over par on his initial nine holes and achieved a birdie on hole 15. Peter Hauser followed closely with a nine-over-par 80, recording three birdies on holes 14, 17, and 18.

Ashton Sutton contributed to the team's score of 324 with a seven-over par for his first nine holes and added a birdie on hole two during the back nine. Cole Bartels also played a key role with five-over par for his first nine holes. Samuel Frericks completed the round with an overall score of 87.

The second team saw Dane Huber and Caden Tinsley both scoring 80s. Huber collected a team-high of 11 pars while Tinsley recorded nine pars. Andrew McKillip finished one stroke behind them with an 81, including a birdie on hole 17.

On day two at Ironwood Golf Course, James and Bartels again led their teams with scores of five-over-par 77 each. James achieved several par streaks contributing to his tournament score of 154. Bartels secured his round with three-over par on his initial nine holes and improved to two-over-par in the back nine.

Sutton's performance resulted in a nine-over-par score of 81. Hauser started strong but ended up with an overall score of 87. Frericks concluded the round for the first team with a score of 90.

For the second team, Tinsley scored seven-over-par for a total of 79. McKillip finished closely behind him with an overall score of nine-over-par 81. Huber's consistent performance resulted in an overall score of five-over-par totaling to an overall round of 82.

Both Bryce Knackstedt and Tobin Nell rounded out their games with identical rounds scoring at least seven pars each resulting in final scores of 85.

The Blueboys will next host the McNaughton Memorial at Jacksonville Country Club after taking one rest day.
