Illinois College men's golf team tied for fourth after day two at SLIAC Championships

The Illinois College men's golf team showed significant improvement during the second round of the 2024 SLIAC Championships at Metamora Fields Golf Club. The team improved their score by 23 strokes, achieving a total of 287, which ties the school's record for a tournament score. The Blueboys recorded 56 pars, 12 birdies, and one eagle.

Jarrett James led the team with a two-under-par round of 69, moving up 14 spots in the rankings. His performance included an eagle on the par-5 third hole and several pars that contributed to his tie for sixth place overall.

Junior Cole Bartels also delivered an impressive performance with a one-under-par round of 70. His efforts included four birdies across both nines, placing him in a tie for 18th place overall.

Peter Hauser from Jonesboro, Illinois scored a solid two-over-par round of 73. Hauser's play featured four birdies and eight pars, positioning him in a tie for 15th place overall.

Dane Huber and Samuel Frericks both contributed scores of four-over-par rounds of 75 to complete the team's total score. Frericks improved his game significantly on day two with back-to-back birdies on holes 11 and 12.

The final round of the championship is scheduled for Tuesday, April 30 at Metamora Fields Golf Club.
