The Illinois College men's golf team wrapped up their participation in the 2024 Blueboy Invite at The Rail Golf Course in Springfield, Illinois. Competing with three separate teams, the Blueboys secured fourth, tenth, and twelfth places among 15 participating teams.
Jarrett James stood out by achieving his second consecutive top-3 finish of the season, securing third place as an individual medalist with an even-par score of 144 over the tournament. Other notable performances included Samuel Frericks (T17) with a score of 149, Cole Bartels (T19) scoring 150, and Dane Huber (T19) also finishing with a two-day score of 150.
During the first day, James led his team with a one-under-par round of 72. "James recorded 13 pars, three birdies, and two bogeys," according to reports from the event. Bartels followed closely with a one-over-par round of 73. Hauser contributed a two-over-par score of 74.
The second day saw James lead again with a one-over-par score of 73. "James recorded 11 pars, four bogeys, and three birdies," as reported from the final round. Huber scored a two-over-par round of 74 on this day.
The team's overall performance earned them a fourth-place finish in the tournament with an aggregate score of 598. The second IC team was paced by Frericks who posted a three-over-par final round score of 75.
Illinois College is set to continue its season at Millikin University's Take Back the Night Tournament starting April 19 in Decatur, Illinois.
