The Illinois College Esports team hosted the Unified Gaming Fanfest over the weekend, featuring competitions against Drury University and Ohio Northern University. This event marked IC's first home LAN event.
On the first day, IC faced Drury University. Drury secured a 4k gold lead at the 15-minute mark in the first game, largely due to their top laner "Mastermind." The match was intense and lasted 45 minutes, ultimately resulting in a win for Drury. In the second game, IC initially led with both gold and dragon advantages at eight minutes but could not maintain control as Drury's top laner again turned the tide. The second game also extended beyond 40 minutes with dramatic team fights favoring Drury. Kevin Tran "SageWabe" was recognized as Coach's player of the game.
The following day, IC competed against Ohio Northern University in their home gym. ONU won after two brief games by outperforming IC across most areas of play. Although Jungler Peter Foreman "255" made some impactful early plays on Maokai, it wasn't enough for IC to gain a significant advantage. The second game saw IC attempt a risky draft strategy that ultimately failed to give them control of the match. Peter Foreman "255" received recognition as Coach's player of the game.
