Illinois College Valorant team falls short against Southern Illinois University

The Illinois College Valorant Esports team competed against Southern Illinois University on Thursday evening at the Meraki Gaming Center in Jacksonville, Illinois. Despite a strong performance from Dwight Duijneveld, who led with 37 kills, 35 deaths, and eight assists over two games, the team was unable to secure a victory.

In the first game of the match, Duijneveld recorded 18 kills with a kill-to-death ratio of 1.1 and achieved a score of 277 ACS. Teammates Noah Horsman and Noah Postin also contributed significantly with double-digit kills; Horsman made 11 kills while Postin added 12.

During the second game, Duijneveld continued his impressive performance by eliminating 19 opponents and earning a score of 263 ACS. Postin maintained his form with another double-digit kill count of 17 and secured a team-high positive two plus-minus score. Horsman executed an impressive play by taking down three opponents within two seconds.

"This season will continue to be really hard for us but we're going to try and compete as hard as we can in each series," stated Head Coach David Seering.

Looking ahead, the Valorant team will have time over the weekend to prepare for their next challenge against the University of Illinois Chicago on Monday, February 26 at 7:00 PM.
