The Illinois College Esports team recently competed against Grand View University in the MEC Championship. The match was crucial as changes in the cLoL format meant that only the winner would secure a place in the national tournament.

Illinois College entered the championship game after a strong series win against Mizzou, while Grand View came into the game with an undefeated regular season and a decisive victory over Drury. Both teams had clear strategies, but Grand View ultimately won all three games.

In game one, Illinois College took an early lead but was unable to maintain it as Grand View outmaneuvered them for a win. Game two saw Illinois College again start strong, but a key play by Grand View's mid laner turned the tide. In game three, Illinois College tried an unconventional strategy with Cassiopeia Teemo bot, yet fell short in mid-game.

This loss means that Illinois College will not participate in the national tournament and they finish second in their conference standings.
