Illinois College dance team earns top spots at national championship

The Illinois College dance team recently participated in the 2024 College Classic National Championship held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. The team, known as the Lady Blues, competed in three categories: team performance, jazz, and poms.

The team consisted of student-athletes Kelana Baker, Emma Boyd, Sabrina Crabtree, Rylee Dodd, Olivia Moore, Olivia Treffinger, and Avery Westlake. In the team performance category, they secured a third-place finish with a score of 85.56.

In the poms category, the Lady Blues earned an eighth-place finish with a score of 85.04. Their final performance was in jazz, where they achieved ninth place with a score of 84.72.

These scores are noted as the highest ever received by the Lady Blues in competition history.

Seniors Baker, Crabtree, and Treffinger marked their last Nationals appearance for Illinois College during this event.

With this competition's conclusion, the Lady Blues have wrapped up their 2023-24 season.
