Illinois College Athletics has announced the inductees for the 2022 class of Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society. Chi Alpha Sigma is a nonprofit organization established to recognize college student-athletes who excel both on and off the field of competition. It is noted as the first and only organization of its kind.
The society acknowledges college student-athletes who receive a varsity letter in their sport, achieve junior academic standing or higher after their fifth full-time semester, and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.4 or higher. This year, Illinois College honored 41 student-athletes across 15 varsity sports.
Multi-sport athletes are listed under each sport in which they participated.
Volleyball inductees include Alyssa Huffman, Mikaela Kalaskie, and Samantha Sabo. From football, CJ Hanna, Ian Gerfen, and Willie Terry were recognized. Nick Walter was inducted from men's soccer while Charity Yount, Lauren Pearson, and Savannah Henson were acknowledged from women's soccer.
Karina Nogleberg was inducted for cheerleading and Cassidy Harvey along with Sydney Geyston for dance. In baseball, Andrew Thomas, Caleb Uselton, Cullen McBride, Gunner Spivey, Jayden Kasai, Kellen Blum, Peyton Abbott, Ryan Best, and Scott Huckabay received honors.
Softball honorees include Annie Schimpf, Grace Frost, Mackenzy Payne, Olivia Shimmin, and Payton Dubberke. Men's basketball saw Benton Singleton, Henry Hayer Jaxson Dian and Justin Kellogg being recognized while Lilly Pepper Micah Huwe Suzie Green Junie Zirkelbach were honored from women's basketball.
Nathan Ellis was acknowledged from men's golf while Hannah Cannon was recognized from women's golf. Ethan Sabotta received honors in men's tennis. CJ Hanna also earned recognition in men's track & field alongside Gavin Raines while Brianna Wallace Kristina Hilmes were acknowledged in women's track & field.
