The Illinois College women's basketball team faced Westminster College in the final game of the Monmouth Invitational, resulting in a 71-65 defeat. This outcome places Illinois College at a 1-3 record, while Westminster secured their first win of the season, also standing at 1-3.
The match was competitive with six lead changes. The Lady Blues were ahead with three minutes left on the clock but could not maintain their lead as Westminster finished strong with a decisive 12-5 run. Jayln Patterson achieved a double-double for Illinois College, scoring 11 points and securing 10 rebounds. Ashlyn Wightman contributed significantly with 14 rebounds and four blocks. Aubrey Kietzman was the top scorer for Illinois College with 15 points, including three successful three-point shots out of eight attempts. Anna McKee added another 12 points to the team's score. Despite leading in field goal percentage, Illinois College fell short due to Westminster's superior free-throw accuracy at 84.6%.
The Lady Blues will return to their home court on Wednesday, November 20th, at 5:30 p.m., where they will face Fontbonne University.
