Illinois College senior Kate Burr has left a significant mark on the women's golf team with her achievements both on and off the course. The Bloomington, Illinois native concluded her final season as an all-conference performer, having played eleven rounds with an average score of 80. She also secured one tournament win and placed in the top five three times.
Burr credits her father for introducing her to golf, which she appreciates as a way to escape daily routines. "I fell in love with golf because while I was playing, I forgot about everything else around me," Burr said. Her ability to focus solely on the game contributed to her success during her senior year.
Reflecting on her last season, Burr expressed satisfaction with how it unfolded. "During my senior season, I was able to relax into the game knowing that my competitive days were almost over," she noted. This mindset helped her earn another first-team all-conference honor despite changes in coaching staff.
Beyond golf, Burr is pursuing a major in education and shares unique experiences with her identical twin sister Alyvia. They plan to travel to Italy together after starting their post-graduate careers.
Burr enjoys reading, exercising, cooking, baking, and watching TV shows and movies outside of academics and sports. She values representing Illinois College and acknowledges the support from faculty and peers: "Representing Illinois College means that I can excel in golf and academics."
In addition to golf, Burr is involved in several campus activities including Tri Beta, NSLS, Kappa Delta Pi, intramural basketball, breakaways participation, study abroad experience sharing through convocation talks.
