Village of Sherman Board of Trustees met Nov. 5

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Trevor J. Clatfelter, President; Sean Bull, Trustee; Pam Gray, Trustee; Bret Hahn, Trustee; Brian Long, Trustee; Kevin Schultz, Trustee; Krista Sherrock, Trustee.

OFFICIALS IN ATTENDANCE

Don Craven, Corporate Counsel; Michael Stratton, Village Administrator; Craig Bangert, Chief of Police.

PUBLIC IN ATTENDANCE (from sign in sheet)

Greg Sgro, John VonBehren, Dereck Dexheimber

OPENING

1. Roll Call. Clerk Stratton called roll call with all members present. President Clatfelter noted a quorum was present to conduct Village business.

2. Pledge of Allegiance. Chief Craig Bangert led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

3. Set Agenda. President Clatfelter asked the Board for non-action items to be added to the agenda. There being none, President Clatfelter requested a motion to set the agenda.

Motion by Trustee Gray, seconded by Trustee Long. Voice Vote with the Ayes having it 6/0.

Motion Passed.

CLERK’S REPORT:

1. Presentation of Meeting Minutes of October 29, 2024. Minutes of the Board Meeting minutes of October 29, 2024, were presented for approval. President Clatfelter asked if there were any additions or corrections. There being no additions or corrections, President Clatfelter requested a motion to approve. Motion to Approve the Minutes of October 29, 2024, Board Meeting as presented by the Clerk was made by Trustee Hahn, seconded by Trustee Sherrock. Roll Call Vote Ayes having it 6/0. Motion Passed.

2. Presentation of Bills for Approval. President Clatfelter asked if there were any questions of the Board on the warrants presented by the Clerk. There being none, President Clatfelter called for a motion to approve the warrants as presented. Motion to Authorize the Warrants as presented by the Clerk was made by Trustee Hahn, seconded by Trustee Schultz. Roll Call Vote Ayes having it 6/0. Motion Passed.

No Engineer’s Report

LEGAL REPORT:

No Legal Report

VILLAGE ADMINSTRATOR & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT REPORT:

No Administrator Report

PRESIDENT’S REPORT: President Clatfelter

1. Variance Request at 5 Red Bud Run. President Clatfelter addressed the Board about the pending variance request for 5 Red Bud Run to install a fence within the set back on west side of the property facing Old Tipton School Road. President Clatfelter asked the petitioner and his legal counsel to address the Board with their request. John VonBehren & his legal counsel Greg Sgro addressed the Board seeking a variance to the set back of 30 feet be reduced to 5 feet to construct a wooden privacy fence. Board discussed and reached an agreement to allow the installation of only a fence and no other structures with a new set back of 10 feet that also requires a survey be completed by the Village Engineer. Petitioner was instructed not to proceed to installation until the survey was completed. Legal Counsel was instructed to prepare ordinance for adoption at the next board meeting. Motion to “Allow set back to 10 feet for purposes of constructing a wooden privacy fence and no other structures” by Trustee Schultz, second by Trustee Long. Roll Call Vote with the Ayes having it 6/0. Motion Passed.

2. Teamsters Labor Agreement. Administrator Stratton addressed the Board about the settlement reached with the Teamsters representing the public works member.. President Clatfelter asked if there were any questions of the Board. There being none, Motion to Adopt Ordinance 24-09 Approving the Labor Agreement with Teamsters 916 by Trustee Hahn, Second by Trustee Long. Roll Call Vote with the Ayes having it 6/0. Motion Passed.

No Committee Reports.

SHERMAN POLICE DEPARTMENT:

No Police Report.

SHERMAN EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY:

No EMA report.

SHERMAN PUBLIC WORKS:

No Public Works Report.

NEW BUSINESS:

No new business report.

OLD BUSINESS:

No old business to address.

CIVIC ORGANIZATIONS:

No civic organizations signed in to address the Board.

PUBLIC COMMENT:

No members of the public signed in to address the Board.

President Clatfelter noted there were no further matters to come before the Board. President Clatfelter requested a Motion to adjourn the public meeting. Motion by Trustee Schultz; seconded by Trustee Hahn. Voice Vote with the Ayes having it 6/0. Motion Passed at 6:52pm.
