Rep. Nikki Budzinski, a U.S. Congress member representing Illinois' 13th district since 2023, has recently shared her views on several key issues through social media posts. Budzinski, who succeeded Rodney Davis in office and resides in Springfield, Illinois, has addressed topics ranging from constitutional amendments to veterans' affairs and corporate mergers.
On December 9, 2024, Rep. Budzinski expressed her commitment to gender equality by advocating for the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). She stated: "It’s long past time that we codify gender equality into our Constitution. More than 100 years since the Equal Rights Amendment was introduced, I’m fighting to affirm this critical provision as the 28th Amendment."
Later that day, she criticized an error made by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), which had caused concern among veterans and their families earlier in the year. In her words: "The VA stoked real fear among veterans and their families when it mistakenly said it was running out of money earlier this year. This kind of error is unacceptable and our veterans deserve better."
On December 10, 2024, Rep. Budzinski commented on a legal decision regarding a proposed merger in the grocery sector. She noted her prior opposition to the merger due to its potential negative impact on prices and union jobs: "In August, I signed an amicus brief urging the blockage of this merger—a merger that would have raised grocery prices and cost countless union jobs. I'm pleased to see the judge rule on the side of working families."
