Rep. Nikki Budzinski, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Illinois’ 13th district, has shared several updates through her social media platform on December 13 and 14, 2024. These updates cover topics ranging from federal funding for law enforcement to commemorating significant legislative milestones and remembering past tragedies.
On December 13, Rep. Budzinski announced the acquisition of federal funding for local law enforcement. She stated: "Our first responders dedicate their lives to protecting our communities. I just secured $363,933 in federal funding for #IL13 law enforcement to purchase necessary equipment, address violent crime and strengthen relationships with the community."
Later that day, she reflected on the anniversary of a significant piece of legislation: "Two years ago, the Respect for Marriage Act was signed into law – enshrining the right of all Americans to marry who they love. As we celebrate this landmark bill, let's continue to support and uplift the LGBTQ+ community."
On December 14, Rep. Budzinski remembered the victims of a tragic event at Sandy Hook Elementary School: "Today, we remember the 20 first-graders and six educators killed at Sandy Hook Elementary 12 years ago. I join the Sandy Hook community in mourning this tragic loss and I remain committed to building a future where everyone can live free from gun violence."
