Senator Tom Bennett delivered a farewell speech reflecting on his decade-long service in the General Assembly. In his address, he expressed gratitude and pride for the opportunity to serve, describing it as "the best job I have ever had." Bennett emphasized the unique nature of legislative work, stating that it is a place "where dreams, hopes and thoughts become concrete ideas and laws that impact millions of people across our great state."
Bennett highlighted his commitment to serving full-time, often working six or seven days a week. He acknowledged his wife Kathy's support, saying, "I could not have done it without you." As he transitions to spending more time with family, he reflected on the relationships and achievements that marked his tenure.
Representing both the 106th District in the House and the 53rd District in the Senate, Bennett expressed pride in his staff's dedication. He thanked them for their hard work and leadership: "You make me look better than I am, and I could not have done this without you."
He also extended gratitude to his colleagues from both political parties for their partnership and respect. Specifically mentioning Leader Curren and President Harmon, Bennett appreciated their steady leadership.
