FOIA Request to Illinois Office Of The Attorney General Regarding Annual Law Enforcement Reports on January 29, 2025.
In our continued efforts to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Sangamon Sun have submitted a request for records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act. Our request is specifically for the annual reports submitted by law enforcement agencies pursuant to the Illinois TRUST Act and/or the Illinois VOICES Act for the years ending on December 31, 2021, December 31, 2022, and December 31, 2023.
As a media organization dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to these public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. We believe that as media professionals disseminating information to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver.
