The Illinois College Overwatch team faced a challenging match against Cornell College, the top-seeded team in the Midwest Varsity Esports Conference (MVEC), resulting in a 4-0 defeat on Wednesday night. This outcome places Illinois College at 1-2 in the MVEC Overwatch standings for the spring season.

In Game 1, played on Oasis with a Control format, Illinois College lost 2-0. The second game on Route 66, an Escort map, ended with a narrow 1-0 loss. Game 3 took place on Colosseo using the Push format and concluded with a 3-0 scoreline against Illinois College. The final game was held on Throne of Anubis in a Clash setup, where Illinois College fell short with a score of 5-1.

Lucas Schultz emerged as a key player for Illinois College, achieving 14 eliminations and contributing 12 assists while dealing nearly 12,000 damage. Dwight Duijneveld also made significant contributions with 14 assists and delivering a team-high of 14,000 damage. Despite the loss to one of the stronger teams in the conference, Schultz and Duijneveld's performances provided some positive takeaways.

Looking ahead, the Illinois College Overwatch team is scheduled to compete again on Wednesday, February 5th against Coe College at 7:00 pm.
