Expectant mothers have the opportunity to address their questions about pregnancy through various prenatal education programs offered by St. John’s Women and Infants Center throughout the year. Situated within HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital, the center provides numerous services for mothers and infants.
The upcoming classes include "Preparing for Childbirth Class" on February 17 and March 31, "Breastfeeding Classes" available in-person on February 12 and March 24, and virtually on February 18 and March 25. The "Baby Basics" class will be held in-person on March 10 and virtually on February 17 and March 24. Additionally, there are sessions like the "All About Car Seats Class" on February 18, and the "Infant and Child Safety Class" on March 19.
These classes welcome expectant mothers along with their support persons. Furthermore, St. John’s Women and Infants Center provides family-oriented classes such as Super Sibling Class, The Joy of Grandparenting, and Daddy Bootcamp.
A monthly Birth Circle Support Group is also available at St. John’s Women and Infants Center for open discussions regarding birth experiences.

Prospective parents may also sign up for a guided tour of St. John’s Women and Infants Center to familiarize themselves with its facilities including the triage area, labor rooms, antenatal area, postpartum unit, as well as learn about hospital procedures related to birth delivery.
St. John’s Women and Infants Center holds recognition as a Level III Perinatal Center offering top-tier care for mothers and babies in south-central Illinois. Annually welcoming over 2,000 babies, it features the region's only Level III NICU staffed by neonatologists, nurse practitioners, RNs among other professionals specialized in caring for premature infants.
