Ty Lenhardt and Josh Harris led the Illinois College men's basketball team to a decisive victory over Grinnell, scoring a combined 64 points in a 109-71 win at Sherman Gymnasium. The Blueboys now hold a record of 16-7 overall and 9-5 in the Midwest Conference, while Grinnell's record stands at 17-6 and 10-4.
The game saw both teams exchanging leads early on until Illinois College took control with a seven-point lead at 28-21. Despite Grinnell's efforts to regain the lead at 36-33, Illinois College surged ahead to end the first half with a score of 51-44.
In the second half, Illinois College dominated by outscoring Grinnell 58-27. They reached their largest lead of the game at 43 points with just over a minute remaining. The Blueboys limited Grinnell to 27.5 percent shooting from the field and secured more rebounds, ending with a total of 45 compared to Grinnell's 35.
Lenhardt achieved a career-high performance with 34 points, including five successful three-pointers out of six attempts. Harris contributed significantly with 30 points, while Seth Doss recorded a double-double with ten points and eleven rebounds. Javonte McKenzie added twelve points, and Marcus Coleman scored eleven.
Illinois College has shown strong form recently, winning nine of their last twelve games. They have also won an impressive number of their recent Midwest Conference contests.
Looking ahead, Illinois College will travel to Lake Forest for their final regular-season road game scheduled for Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
