Menard County Board of Commissioners met Jan. 23

The Menard County Board of Commissioners met for a special board meeting on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. in the Menard County Courthouse, 102 S. Seventh Street, Petersburg, Illinois. Commissioners Bob Lott, Ed Whitcomb, Troy Cummings, Rich Brauer, and Dalton Whitley were present. A quorum was present. County Coordinator Dara Worthington, County Clerk Marty Gum, Treasurer Molly Bettis, and Assistant State’s Attorney Gwen Thomas were also present.
The meeting was called to order at 8:00 a.m.
Menard County Republican Central Committee Chair, Jason Huffman, was in attendance and presented the Board with the Committee’s Letter of Recommendation regarding the vacancy to the Menard County State’s Attorney office created as a result of Gabe Grosboll’ s resignation effective January 31, 2025. Huffman reported that it was by unanimous vote of the Republican Central Committee that Gwendolyn Thomas be appointed to fill the vacancy.
Resolution 01-25 – Appointment to Fill Vacant Public Office of Menard County State’s Attorney Commissioner Brauer made a motion to approve the resolution appointing Gwendolyn Thomas as interim Menard County State’s Attorney effective January 31, 2025. Commissioner Cummings seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously.
Adjournment
With no other business coming before the Board, Commissioner Cummings moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:11 a.m. Commissioner Brauer seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously.
