The men's golf team from Illinois College performed well during the first round of the Blueboy Invitational held at The Rail Golf Course in Springfield, Illinois. On Thursday afternoon, they posted a team score of 286, shooting 2-under-par, which positions them just one stroke behind the leading team as they head into the final round on Friday.
Myles Kampwerth played a critical role in the team's success by recording a score of 68, four-under-par, placing him at the top of the leaderboard. Kampwerth's round included seven birdies. Jarrett James also contributed significantly with a score of 69, three-under-par, and only two bogeys during his round. Teammates Tobin Nell and Dylan Clark completed the team's scorecard with rounds of 73 and 76, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Illinois College White team ended Thursday tied for 10th with a total score of 311. Teddy Walbaum was the standout for them, finishing with a score of 69, three-under-par. Both Cole Bartels and Emmitt Brokaw scored 79, while AJ Odle rounded out with an 84.
The second and final round of the Blueboy Invitational is set to begin at 9:00 a.m. on Friday at The Rail.
